Tyson H. Burridge, was established as a partnership, operating one vehicle in 1963 and grew steadily, through incorporation in 1991, to the current level of operation.

The Company has it’s origins in the West Cumbrian village of Mockerkin, near Cockermouth on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Mockerkin Tarn, a small lake, created the basis for the individual “Tarnside” name carried by each company vehicle.

During the growth period of the company, four other local transport businesses were acquired and integrated into the operation.

The present site, on the A595, between Workington and Whitehaven was acquired in 1979, when the business had outgrown the Mockerkin base, and expansion had become restricted.

2 acres of concreted parking area, and the warehousing capacity has been increased by the erection of two additional ambient stores.

Regular long-distance transport services are operated between Cumbria and the major areas of the UK mainland, offering our clients a quality service, for full or part load consignments. Multi-delivery consignments and pre-booked timed deliveries form a significant part of the daily traffic schedules.

Our modern fleet with an average age of 3 years comprises a wide range of vehicles with carrying capacities ranging from 1 tonne to 29 tonnes. All vehicles are equipped with in cab communications & tracking equipment to enable us to provide customers with real time information on the status of all deliveries.
